I'm Certainly Not A Year Younger

Just about a year ago I started this blog and a related twitter account with the purpose ofsharing my unique thoughts and perspectives on the gospel of Jesus Christ. While I have grown spiritually I have not shared as much as I thought I would. I am setting a goal and blocking out time each week for posts.

Our Righteous Might

As we remembered Pearl Harbor this last week, very few people forget FDR’s words, “A date which will live in infamy.” What some of us do forget is the part where he says, “the American people in their righteous might will win through to absolute victory [emphasis added].” The physical battle and the spiritual battle are near one in the same. Fav Quotes from Things As They Really Are by Neal A Maxwell

+ [Speaking of Christ's Gospel] Our childish rebelling against those simple requirements will not change them.

+ The jokes of drinkers about drunkeness are but an attempt to mock that which mocks them.

+ Those who boast and chortle about their sexual conquests are boasting of that which has actually conquered them.

+ [Speaking of choosing true joy] It is a choice that must be made not once, but it must also be reaffirmed everyday and even every moment.

And this was just from the introduction!

82nd Anniversary of Black Tuesday

Today, Saturday, marks the 82nd Anniversary of Black Tuesday. Looking back at what the church counseled at that time offers timeless advice in the midst of our present double dip recession. President Grant said, “Many people have said, … ‘Well, others are getting some [government relief], why should not I get some of it?’ “I believe that there is a growing disposition among the people to try to get something from the government of the United States with little hope of ever paying it back. I think this is all wrong.”
